SearchAVCataloger includes an advanced search engine to assist in finding records matching user-defined criteria. As seen in Figure 1 below, the Search engine is straight forward and simple to use. Select the area to search in, the column to be searched, the search condition (see Table 1 below for descriptions of available conditions), and the search criteria. When using the Like or Not Like criteria, wildcards may be used to help narrow down or expand a search pattern. For example, if using the criteria as shown in Figure 1, *Class* will search for values where the word "Class" is in the phrase being searched. The * wildcard means "any letters", therefore the search for *Class* is asking the search engine to find the word class with any letters preceding and any letters on the end of Class. This search pattern would yield results such as Classification, MyClass, MyClassification, etc. When the elements have been set, click the Search button to execute the desired search. The active entry area will then reflect the results of the desired search pattern. To restore the active entry area to the full populated data set, click the Reset button.
New in version 2.1 is the ability to search the entire data area, such as Music Main and Track level areas. Select the ALL COLUMNS option from the Search In drop down and choose the Like or Not Like option for text comparison searching. Hits in any of the visible columns in either the main entry area or track level area will result in a returned main entry.
Added in 3.2 is the ability to search on Track Duration. Search values are in seconds.
