Quick Tour (IMDb)

The IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is a very powerful capability free for use in AVCataloger.  IMDb is a powerful search and retrieval system where you can search the Internet for any movie or television program information, retrieve the details, view the web site information with the integrated web browser, and save the information to the Video data area of AVCataloger.  Figure 1 (below) shows the powerful and intuitive interface for using IMDb.

Figure 1. IMDb Search Interface

The top portion of the IMDb area is where the search criteria is placed, allowing a date range, search type (word, fuzzy, or regular expression), and the option to restrict the search to movies, TV, or both.  If connected to the Internet, click the Search button to retrieve matching results from the IMDb Internet database.  If multiple matches are available, a dialog will appear to select the desired title.  Once the desired title is selected (if multiple matches) the information will be retrieved and downloaded from the Internet and placed into the corresponding fields in the IMDb area.  Checked items will be saved, unchecked will be skipped when the Save button is clicked.  If a picture of the box is available, it will be displayed and saved.  For more information on using IMDb, view the IMDb topic within this documentation.
