Auto-Indexing
Figure 1. CDDB Auto-Indexing
In the Music area is a column with the default caption of "Index" which is designed to store an indexing value to catalog CDs, although it can be used for any other purpose, if desired. CDDB provides a powerful utility to help automatically catalog your CDs as shown in Figure 1 above. If Auto-Indexing is enabled by checking the Enable Indexing check box, the fields will be activated for use. At the far right is the column configuration to store the indexing, the default is the index column, but any other text style column can be used.
There are three main sections that can be used to create a catalog number. You can leave them blank or fill them in. AVCataloger will concatenate the filled in sections, and hyphenate if the "Auto-Hyphenate" check box is checked. In the example above, Auto-Increment is checked telling AVCataloger to advance the selected section for incrementing by the Interval with each saved CD. Click the Radio button at the top, Prefix, Main, or Suffix to choose which field will contain the incremented value. Use the + / - buttons to advance the increment starting point, which will scroll in the amount of the interval setting, or type in a value manually. When a CD is saved, it will capture the non-empty fields, add a hyphen between them if Auto-Hyphenate is set and stored to the Save to field. Auto-Indexing does not check for duplicate index values. It is the user's responsibility to configure the indexing. In the sample above, the Index stored would appear as:
area2-rock-58
area2-rock-59
area2-rock-60
As CD's are committed to the database, the selected increment field is advanced, as shown in the sample above.
